2024 FOLUCK’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY INCENTIVE TRIP

2024 is a special year for Foluck as we celebrate the milestone of our 40th anniversary. To mark this significant occasion, the entire team embarked on a journey to Hokkaido, not only to honor our past efforts but also to infuse inspiration and energy into designing the next chapter of our story.

Our trip began at Lake Shikotsu, where we were greeted by the serene beauty of one of Japan’s clearest and deepest lakes. Surrounded by untouched nature, the tranquility of the lake set the tone for the journey ahead. That evening, we soaked in the soothing waters of Moru Onsen, a rare plant-based hot spring known for its skin-beautifying and healing properties, leaving us refreshed and recharged.

The next day, we visited Tokachi Wine, Japan’s first municipally operated winery and a pioneer of winemaking in Hokkaido. Creativity was everywhere—wooden barrels transformed into tables, corks repurposed into art pieces, and thoughtful designs throughout the space. We enjoyed tasting sweet grape juice and fine red wine, while drawing inspiration from the innovative ways artistry and functionality came together.

Later, at the Furano Jam Garden, we rolled up our sleeves and created our own strawberry jam, experiencing firsthand how a simple process can create something both personal and delightful. The day concluded at Blue Pond in Biei, where the vivid, dreamlike blue waters left us mesmerized.

On the third day, we marveled at the natural splendor of the Sounkyo Gorge Waterfalls, where frozen cascades created a scene straight out of a winter fairy tale. Our next stop was the Asahiyama Zoo, renowned for its immersive and thoughtful exhibits, particularly the playful penguins and their charming strolls. The day ended with a visit to Odori Park in Sapporo, where the sparkling White Illumination Festival brought a magical close to the evening.

The fourth day took us to the charming streets of Otaru, where the historic Otaru Canal offered a nostalgic walk back in time. At Kitaichi Glass and the Otaru Music Box Museum, we admired intricate craftsmanship and designs, inspiring reflections on the seamless fusion of art and functionality. The whimsical Steam Clock added a touch of old-world charm to our visit, making Otaru a highlight of our trip.

On our final day, we visited the dramatic Noboribetsu Hell Valley, where steaming vents and sulfuric landscapes showcased the raw power of nature. It was a fitting end to a journey filled with awe and inspiration, reminding us of the balance between nature’s untamed beauty and human creativity.

Throughout this trip, every stop offered not just relaxation but also a wealth of inspiration. Whether it was the calm of Lake Shikotsu, the ingenuity at Tokachi Wine, or the artistry in Otaru, we found countless ideas to bring back to our work. This journey was not only a celebration of 40 years but also a reaffirmation of our belief that design comes from life and thrives on attention to detail.

As we return to our daily lives, the Foluck team is recharged and ready to create. This journey has deepened our connection to one another and sparked new ideas for the future. Thank you for being part of our journey, and here’s to many more years of creativity and growth together!
