*The holiday of the Mid-Autumn Festival starts from 1st October to 4th October. All the contacts will be replied after we come back from the holiday.
On the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, all the family will be united to celebrate it in Taiwan. On this holiday, people will have barbecue and enjoy classic moon cakes and pomelos which are indispensable. At that night, we admire the moon and making nice memories.
But why are we going to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival? Let me tell you the story…
According to the eastern mythology, there were 10 suns circling over the earth. Strangely, all 10 suns showed up together in one day, then an archer named Hou Yi who scorched the nine of the suns, which saved human beings from the extremely heated condition.
After that, he married a woman named Chang E. One day, Hou Yi was given a medicine that he could live forever and become a god from the Queen of Heaven as a reward. Unfortunately, a villain was eager to steal it and have it. To avoid letting a villain become a god, Chang E swallowed it.
Flying to the moon, she became a goddess. Hou Yi missed his wife so badly, he placed delicious food that his wife likes on a full moon day.
This custom was later remembered by the folks to pray for good luck from Goddess Chang E.
It sounds like a sad story, but it gives us the reason to unite with families and friend, additionally, the reason to admire this amazing creation of the universe, the Moon.
